Family Carers Ireland

Family Carers Ireland is a support organization for family carers. A family carer is anyone, including children and adults, who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care that they give is unpaid.
Services provided by Families Carer Ireland are as follows:              

• Free counselling service to Family Carers
• Information on all Social Welfare entitlements
• Training for carers in such areas as First Aid, Back Care, and Safety in the Home
• Monthly support group meetings in Clonmel, Carrick-on-Siúir, and Cashel
• A Home Respite for service for people of 65 years and upwards who are receiving care

The organisation also processes applications for Social Alarms for older people.
