Scoil Chormaic Special School, Cashel

Scoil Chormaic provides an educational service to students with specific educational needs, intellectual disability and/or Autism.  The curriculum caters for children at pre-school and primary level and students at post primary level.

The pre-school caters specifically for the needs of young children with autism. Activities and equipment are play-based and designed to give opportunities to encourage communication and interaction, support gross and fine-motor skills, provide multi-sensory experiences and, very importantly, promote education, fun and enjoyment.

The Junior School provides the standard primary curriculum taking a holistic approach to ensure that the needs of each student are met and that learning is both enjoyable and worthwhile and that students atrick their full potential as unique individuals.

In the Senior School, students have the opportunity to take core curricular subjects and optional subjects up to QQ1 Levels 1 & 3, and the new Junior Certificate Level 2 programme. They are able to learn in their own specific way and pace through in individualized learning programmes that give them the security to express their individual needs and talents which in turn offers them individual goals that are both relevant and achievable.

Eligibility: Children and Young people with Mild General Learning Disability and on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder
