The Family Learning Programme is a Traveller-led learning support project for Traveller children where they can develop greater confidence, a love of learning and pride in whom they are.
The programme includes the following activities:
- Homework Support: the children are provided with a quiet space and assistance to complete their homework.
- Literacy Support: Activities to improve reading and writing skills
- Arts, Crafts and Games to enhance learning and development of various skills
- Promotion of Traveller cultural identity by the direct involvement of Peer Education Workers from the local Traveller community in the delivery of the programme, as well as the use of resource materials representative of Traveller life and culture.
Target group: Traveller children in the Primary School age range in the Cashel area.
